Job Description

Join our vibrant team at Specsavers Warrnambool as an Optometry Assistant. This part-time role offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to contribute to a busy retail optical practice. You will be the first point of contact for many of our customers, providing essential support to our Optometrists and Dispensers, ensuring smooth daily operations, and delivering exceptional customer service. We are looking for someone available for day work, primarily weekdays, with some flexibility for occasional Saturdays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle administrative tasks
  • Assist customers with frame selection and fitting, explaining product features
  • Perform pre-screening tests for patients, including visual field tests and retinal photography
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the retail area and consulting rooms
  • Process sales transactions and handle cash and card payments accurately
  • Educate customers on lens options, contact lenses, and eye care products
  • Manage inventory and ensure displays are well-stocked and appealing
  • Liaise with Optometrists and other team members to ensure a seamless customer journey

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a retail or customer service role (ideally 6+ months)
  • Familiarity with optical terminology or products (highly regarded but not essential as full training will be provided)
  • Experience with scheduling software
