Job Description

Are you a passionate and ambitious PR student looking to kickstart your career in a vibrant agency environment? Flinders Communications Group is offering a paid internship opportunity for a talented individual to join our Port Pirie team. This role is designed for students with little to no prior professional experience, providing comprehensive training and mentorship. You will gain invaluable practical experience across various facets of public relations, from media relations and content creation to social media management and client support. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting press releases, media alerts, and other communication materials.
  • Support media monitoring and compile coverage reports.
  • Conduct research for client campaigns and industry trends.
  • Help manage and update social media content calendars.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for new campaign ideas.
  • Provide administrative support to the PR team as needed.
  • Learn to identify and engage with key media contacts.
  • Support event planning and execution for clients.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of social media platforms and their role in PR.
  • Experience with Cision, Meltwater, or similar media monitoring tools (not required, training provided).
  • A portfolio of writing samples (e.g., academic papers, blog posts, press release drafts).
  • Familiarity with local Port Pirie and regional South Australian media landscape.
