Job Description
Join our vibrant team at Specsavers Cairns as a Part-time Optometry Assistant. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for customer service and an interest in optical healthcare. You’ll be instrumental in supporting our optometrists and dispensing opticians, ensuring our patients receive exceptional care and a seamless experience from the moment they walk through our doors. This is a part-time position with day work hours, ideal for those seeking flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle administrative tasks with accuracy.
- Conduct preliminary eye tests (pre-screening) such as visual field tests and auto-refraction.
- Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses, providing style advice and technical information.
- Process sales, handle payments, and manage insurance claims.
- Maintain a tidy and organised retail environment and clinic area.
- Educate patients on eyewear care and contact lens usage.
- Support the Optometrist and Dispensing Optician with various tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a customer service or retail environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail setting.
- A genuine passion for helping people and delivering outstanding service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an optical or healthcare retail setting.
- Knowledge of optical terminology or products.
- First Aid certification.
