Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability / ESG Director to lead our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. This pivotal role involves driving strategic ESG consulting for our diverse client base, developing sustainable business practices, and ensuring compliance with evolving global standards. You will be instrumental in helping clients navigate complex ESG challenges, identify opportunities for impact, and build resilient, responsible businesses. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of ESG consulting projects, providing expert advice and strategic guidance to clients across various sectors.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive ESG strategies, frameworks, and reporting mechanisms in alignment with international standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
  • Conduct materiality assessments, risk analyses, and performance evaluations related to environmental impact, social responsibility, and governance practices.
  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance, emerging ESG trends, and best practices to enhance their sustainability performance and reputation.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities and contributing to thought leadership in the ESG space.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the ESG practice.
  • Represent EY Canada at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder engagements to promote our ESG capabilities and insights.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across EY to integrate ESG considerations into broader advisory services.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in sustainability, ESG, corporate social responsibility, or related consulting roles.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex ESG projects with tangible impact.
  • Deep expertise in global ESG frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, UN SDGs).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and nurture client relationships.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business Administration, Sustainability, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or MBA with a focus on sustainability, environmental management, or responsible business.
  • Professional certifications in sustainability (e.g., LEED AP, CESGA, ISSP-SA).
  • Experience working in a global consulting firm environment.
  • Proficiency in French (written and spoken) is a significant asset.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and ESG software platforms.
