Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Public Health Nurse to join our dynamic team in Derby. This vital role involves working with individuals, families, and communities to promote health, prevent ill-health, and reduce health inequalities. You will be instrumental in delivering evidence-based public health interventions, conducting assessments, providing education, and collaborating with various stakeholders to improve community health outcomes. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to making a tangible impact on public health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments for individuals and families.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate tailored public health interventions and programs.
  • Provide health education and promotion activities on a range of public health topics.
  • Identify and address health inequalities within diverse communities.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners, including schools, social services, and voluntary organisations.
  • Safeguard vulnerable individuals and families, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records in accordance with professional standards.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, continuing professional development, and team meetings.
  • Contribute to service improvement and audit activities.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (Adult, Child, or Learning Disability) with current NMC registration.
  • Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a diverse caseload.
  • Strong understanding of public health principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in basic IT skills, including electronic record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-registration qualification in Public Health Nursing or Health Visiting.
  • Experience working in a community or public health setting.
  • Experience in delivering health education and promotion programs.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
