Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Court Runner / Legal Courier to join our team in Middlesbrough. This is an active and essential role responsible for the timely and secure delivery of legal documents to courts, clients, and other offices within the local area. You will be a crucial link in our operational efficiency, ensuring that all correspondence and critical papers reach their destinations promptly and confidentially. This position requires someone with excellent organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently while representing the firm professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport legal documents, mail, and packages between our offices, local courts, client premises, and other relevant institutions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all delivered items.
- Plan and execute daily delivery routes in an efficient and timely manner.
- Obtain necessary signatures and confirmations for delivered documents.
- Assist with basic office tasks such as filing, photocopying, and preparing mail for dispatch when not on delivery routes.
- Ensure the company vehicle (if provided) or personal vehicle used for work is well-maintained and clean, reporting any issues promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with legal staff regarding pick-ups, deliveries, and any potential delays.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent punctuality and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage a schedule effectively.
- Professional demeanour and excellent communication skills.
- Physical stamina to handle an active role, including walking and carrying documents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a courier, delivery, or similar role.
- Familiarity with the Middlesbrough and wider Teesside area.
- Basic knowledge of legal procedures or terminology (not essential, but beneficial).
