Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Façade Engineer to join our dynamic team in Charleston, SC. In this role, you will contribute to the design and analysis of complex façade systems for a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring structural integrity, thermal performance, and aesthetic quality. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed analysis and design of various façade systems, including curtain walls, window walls, rainscreens, and skylights.
- Conduct structural, thermal, and hygrothermal performance calculations for façade components.
- Prepare technical specifications, reports, and calculations in accordance with industry standards and building codes.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and contractors throughout project lifecycles.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and construction administration activities to ensure quality and compliance.
- Research and evaluate new façade materials, technologies, and construction methods.
- Contribute to the development of design concepts and proposals for new projects.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the team's professional development.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in façade design and engineering.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, FEA software).
- Strong understanding of building physics, thermodynamics, and material science as applied to building envelopes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related engineering or architecture discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing licensure.
- Experience with advanced façade modeling and simulation tools.
- LEED AP or other relevant sustainability certifications.
- Experience with international projects and diverse construction practices.
