Job Description
Allina Health is seeking a motivated Psychology Clinical Intern to join our dedicated mental health facility in St. Paul. This internship offers an invaluable opportunity for aspiring psychology professionals to gain hands-on clinical experience, learn directly from experienced mental health professionals, and contribute to a team-oriented patient care environment. You will support various aspects of patient care, observe clinical assessments, participate in treatment planning discussions, and enhance your understanding of mental health practices in a real-world setting. This is an entry-level internship designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist mental health professionals in clinical support tasks, under direct supervision.
- Observe individual and group therapy sessions, psychological assessments, and case consultations.
- Support in preparing and organizing patient files and treatment materials.
- Contribute to the development of patient care plans and program activities.
- Participate in team meetings and educational sessions to deepen understanding of clinical practices.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Conduct literature reviews and research support tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Bachelor's or Master's program in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and a genuine interest in mental health care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Commitment to ethical practices and patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or community service setting.
- Understanding of basic psychological theories and principles.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish or Somali) is a plus.
