Job Description
Join Republic Services as a Refuse Loader / Bin Collector in Portland, OR. This full-time, on-site role involves early morning starts and manual loading of waste and recycling into collection vehicles. You will be a crucial part of our team, ensuring efficient and safe waste collection for our community, working outdoors in various weather conditions. Weekly pay and comprehensive benefits are provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate as part of a collection crew, safely loading refuse, yard waste, and recycling into collection vehicles along designated routes.
- Manually lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Ensure proper collection procedures are followed, including container placement and securing loads.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations, federal, state, and local laws.
- Assist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections of collection vehicles and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with the driver, supervisor, and other team members.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and personal protective equipment.
- Provide exceptional service to our customers by ensuring timely and efficient collections.
Required Skills
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy loads (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic for early morning starts.
- Commitment to safety for yourself and your team.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor labor.
- Familiarity with local Portland routes.
