Job Description
Are you an aspiring medical professional looking for hands-on exposure to a dynamic hospital environment? Our Pre-Med Shadowing Intern program offers an unparalleled opportunity to observe healthcare delivery firsthand within our facilities in Cranbrook, BC. This internship is designed for motivated individuals with no prior experience in a hospital setting, providing a foundational understanding of various medical departments and patient care pathways. You will gain invaluable insight into the day-to-day operations of a busy hospital, learn from experienced healthcare providers, and confirm your passion for a career in medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during patient interactions, rounds, and procedures.
- Learn about patient flow, departmental operations, and interdisciplinary collaboration within a hospital setting.
- Adhere strictly to patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PIPEDA) and hospital privacy policies at all times.
- Attend educational sessions, workshops, or meetings as opportunities arise.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, upholding the standards of the healthcare environment.
- Shadow professionals in various departments such as Emergency, Surgical Suites, Radiology, and General Medicine (dependent on availability and patient consent).
- Document observations and reflections in a personal logbook, as guided by the program supervisor.

- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or community service setting.
