Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Linen Chute Clearer to join our hotel operations team. This crucial role involves working in the hotel basement to manage and clear linen chutes, ensuring a smooth and continuous flow of laundry to our processing areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for clearing blockages, transporting heavy bags of soiled linen, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This is a hands-on position requiring significant heavy lifting and physical stamina in a fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided for candidates demonstrating a strong work ethic and reliability, making it an excellent entry-level opportunity for motivated individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly monitor and clear linen chutes to prevent blockages.
- Safely collect, bag, and transport heavy loads of soiled linen from collection points to designated laundry areas.
- Operate and maintain laundry carts and other equipment used for linen transport.
- Perform routine checks for chute obstructions and resolve them promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of linen collection areas and the hotel basement.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures related to heavy lifting and material handling.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with the housekeeping and laundry teams to ensure seamless and efficient operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads repeatedly (up to 50 lbs independently).
- Strong physical stamina and endurance for a demanding role.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety procedures and willingness to follow them.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions accurately.
- Comfortable working in a basement environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel, warehouse, or other physically demanding role is a plus, but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
