Job Description
We are seeking a highly talented and creative Pastry Chef / Chocolatier to join our distinguished culinary team at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional with a passion for pastry arts and chocolate work to thrive in a luxurious hotel environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, preparing, and presenting a wide array of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and intricate chocolate creations. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute a diverse menu of pastries, desserts, breads, and chocolate confections for all hotel outlets, including restaurants, banquets, and special events.
- Oversee the daily production and preparation of all pastry and chocolate items, ensuring consistency and adherence to recipes and quality standards.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control costs while minimizing waste without compromising quality.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in accordance with all health and safety regulations.
- Train, mentor, and supervise junior pastry staff and apprentices, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other culinary team members on menu development and special projects.
- Stay abreast of current pastry and chocolate trends, techniques, and innovations to continuously enhance our offerings.
- Ensure all food items are prepared and presented beautifully, meeting the hotel's luxury brand standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Chocolatier, or similar role in a high-volume hotel, restaurant, or patisserie.
- Exceptional creativity and artistic ability in pastry and chocolate design.
- Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary pastry techniques, including baking, decorating, tempering chocolate, and sugar work.
- Proficiency in all aspects of kitchen management, including inventory, ordering, and cost control.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution, specializing in pastry arts or confectionery.
- Experience in a luxury hotel environment.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
- Previous experience with international culinary teams.
