Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our project team based in Sefton Park, Liverpool. This role offers an excellent opportunity to manage commercial aspects of significant construction projects, ensuring financial control, cost-effectiveness, and profitability from inception through to completion. You will play a crucial part in the successful delivery of projects, working closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage budgets, cost plans, and financial forecasts for projects.
- Conduct detailed tender analysis, prepare tender reports, and manage subcontractor procurement.
- Administer contract terms and conditions, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs against budget, identifying and reporting on any deviations.
- Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment.
- Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions.
- Assess and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce regular commercial reports for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Proficient in contract administration and commercial management.
- Strong understanding of various forms of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Demonstrable experience in managing projects from pre-construction to final account.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Chartered status or working towards RICS accreditation.
- Experience with specific project management and cost management software (e.g., Causeway, Sage).
- Previous experience working on projects within the Liverpool City Region.
