Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Tree Surgeon Assistant to join our growing team in Kingston upon Hull. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in arboriculture. No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided on the job by our experienced tree surgeons. You will play a crucial role in supporting our operations, learning essential techniques, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of our tree care projects. This is an on-site position where you will be working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting qualified tree surgeons with various aspects of tree work, including pruning, felling, and planting.
  • Operating and maintaining ground-based equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., chippers, chainsaws – under supervision and after training).
  • Performing ground duties such as clearing branches, stacking wood, and ensuring site tidiness.
  • Adhering strictly to health and safety regulations and company procedures at all times.
  • Participating in site setup and clear-down, including traffic management where required.
  • Learning and developing skills in tree identification, basic tree climbing, and equipment maintenance.
  • Working effectively as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential for career progression, but not required to start).
  • Basic First Aid certification.
  • Experience working outdoors or in a physically demanding role.
  • Knowledge of basic tool maintenance.
