Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and physically capable Geothermal Drilling Assistant (Mate) to join our dynamic drilling team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to work in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector. As a Drilling Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and the successful completion of geothermal boreholes. This position requires significant manual labor, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in varying outdoor conditions. Full training will be provided to ensure you understand all aspects of the job and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead drillers with all aspects of geothermal drilling operations.
- Prepare, load, and unload drilling equipment and materials.
- Handle and connect drill pipes, casings, and other downhole tools.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site, including equipment washdowns.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of drilling equipment.
- Monitor drilling parameters and report any irregularities to the driller.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and contribute to a strong safety culture.
- Perform other manual labor tasks as assigned to support the drilling team.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods.
- Strong physical stamina and dexterity.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly.
- Reliable transportation to job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in construction, labor, or a related field.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience operating heavy equipment or machinery.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
