Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nuclear Engineer to join our dynamic team in Aberdeen. In this role, you will contribute to critical projects within the nuclear energy sector, focusing on design, analysis, safety assessment, and operational support for nuclear facilities. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, applying your expertise to ensure the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed engineering design and analysis for nuclear systems and components.
- Conduct safety assessments, risk analysis, and criticality evaluations in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and review technical specifications, reports, and documentation.
- Support the commissioning, operation, and decommissioning phases of nuclear facilities.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success and compliance.
- Apply knowledge of nuclear codes, standards, and best practices.
- Participate in client meetings and present technical findings.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering with nuclear specialization).
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in nuclear engineering, with a focus on design, analysis, or safety.
- Strong understanding of nuclear physics, thermal-hydraulics, and reactor technology.
- Familiarity with UK nuclear regulations and licensing processes.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and analytical tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Nuclear Engineering or a related field.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience with specific reactor types or fuel cycle technologies.
- Project management experience within an engineering context.
- Knowledge of probabilistic safety assessment (PSA).
