Job Description

Join Swansea Council as a School Crossing Patrol and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of children traveling to and from school. This vital community position involves assisting pedestrians, primarily schoolchildren, across designated roads during peak school times. We are looking for reliable, community-minded individuals who are committed to child safety. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary. You will become a friendly and familiar face, helping to create a safer environment for our youngest residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely stop traffic at designated crossing points to allow pedestrians, especially children, to cross the road.
  • Operate stop signs clearly and effectively to manage vehicle flow.
  • Maintain a highly visible and reassuring presence at the crossing point.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with drivers and pedestrians.
  • Report any concerns or incidents regarding road safety or pedestrian behaviour to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and local authority procedures.
  • Be available to work during school term times, typically for short periods in the morning and afternoon.
