Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Commercial Bakery Delivery Driver to join our early morning distribution team in Grimsby. This crucial role involves safely transporting our freshly baked goods from our distribution centre to various retail outlets and customers across North East Lincolnshire. You will be an integral part of ensuring our products arrive on time and in perfect condition, contributing to our customer satisfaction and brand reputation. This is a full-time position offering weekly pay and consistent early morning routes.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload bakery products onto and off the delivery vehicle.
- Operate a commercial delivery van/lorry efficiently and safely, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Follow pre-determined delivery routes and schedules, ensuring timely deliveries to multiple locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, representing Jackson's Bakery professionally.
- Handle products with care to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere to all food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status or issues.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Category B driving license (or higher relevant license for commercial vehicles)
- Clean driving record (minimal points, no disqualifications in the last 3 years)
- Ability to lift and carry goods up to 25kg repeatedly throughout a shift
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Punctuality and reliability for early morning shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial delivery driving or multi-drop delivery (e.g., parcel, food, or similar)
- Knowledge of North East Lincolnshire road networks and local areas
- Experience operating refrigerated vehicles (though not essential for all routes)
