Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Urban Designer / Masterplanner to join our growing team in Derry, Northern Ireland. This is a unique opportunity to work on diverse projects ranging from large-scale masterplans to detailed public realm designs, contributing to the creation of sustainable and vibrant communities. We are offering relocation assistance to support eligible candidates in making a smooth transition to this beautiful and dynamic region, known for its rich history and growing potential. You will play a crucial role in all stages of project delivery, from concept development and feasibility studies to detailed design and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the development of masterplans, urban design frameworks, and regeneration strategies.
- Prepare high-quality urban design reports, presentations, and visualisations (including 2D plans, 3D models, and illustrative sketches).
- Conduct site analysis, develop design concepts, and evaluate design options.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including architects, landscape architects, transport planners, and environmental specialists.
- Engage with clients, local authorities, stakeholders, and communities throughout the design process.
- Contribute to project management, including budget control and timeline adherence.
- Stay abreast of current urban design trends, best practices, and relevant policies.
Required Skills
- Degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Town Planning, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in urban design or master planning.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and SketchUp.
- Strong graphic and visual communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Understanding of urban design principles, planning processes, and sustainable development strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Design or a related specialisation.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Familiarity with UK planning policy and regulations, particularly in Northern Ireland.
- Experience in public consultation and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of BIM and parametric design tools.
