Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Jetty Maintenance Hand to join our outdoor operations team in Bairnsdale. This full-time role involves hands-on work ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of jetties and associated marine structures throughout the East Gippsland region. You will be part of a vital team contributing to the upkeep of our beautiful waterways, working primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. If you enjoy manual labor, have an eye for detail, and are committed to maintaining public assets, we encourage you to apply. Full training will be provided for specific tasks, though prior experience in outdoor labor or maintenance is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of jetties, boardwalks, and marine structures.
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance, including timber replacement, pressure washing, and painting.
- Assist with the installation and removal of marine infrastructure components.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any significant damage or issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Participate in general outdoor upkeep and beautification projects along the waterfront.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to follow instructions.
- A valid Australian Driver's License.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in outdoor maintenance, construction, or a similar manual role.
- Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Basic first aid certification.
- Experience operating small plant machinery or power tools.
- Knowledge of timber maintenance and basic carpentry.
