Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals for a Remote Government Translation Service role. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to critical public services by providing accurate and culturally sensitive translation. As a key member of our remote team, you will facilitate clear communication across various government departments and the public. Full training on government protocols, security procedures, and specific translation tools will be provided. This position requires native-level fluency in English and at least one other language. The role is 100% remote, offering flexibility and the chance to work from anywhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate a variety of documents, communications, and live interactions from source to target language with precision and cultural nuance.
  • Ensure all translations adhere to government standards, security protocols, and strict confidentiality guidelines.
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and consistency in terminology, style, and tone.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and project managers to meet deadlines and project requirements.
  • Utilize translation memory tools and glossaries to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance translation skills and knowledge of government processes.
  • Provide clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, in all working languages.

Required Skills

  • Native-level fluency in English and at least one other specified language (written and spoken).
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation in all working languages.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to comprehend complex information and translate it clearly.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, web browsers).
  • Reliable internet connection and a suitable home office environment.
  • Strong ethical conduct and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in translation, interpretation, or linguistic services (though full training is provided).
  • Experience working in a remote or virtual team environment.
  • Familiarity with CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools.
  • Understanding of UK government structures or public sector operations.
  • Degree in Languages, Translation, Communications, or a related field.
