Job Description
As a Hotel Porter / Bellhop, you will be a vital part of our front-of-house team, responsible for ensuring guests receive a warm welcome and efficient assistance throughout their stay. This role is highly interactive and requires a proactive, friendly, and professional individual capable of handling guest requests, managing luggage, and providing valuable local information. You will be instrumental in making a positive first and last impression on our guests, contributing significantly to their overall experience at The Grand Mount Barker Hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet all guests upon arrival and departure, offering immediate assistance with a friendly and professional demeanour.
- Efficiently assist guests with luggage handling, including loading, unloading, and delivering bags to and from their rooms.
- Provide guests with accurate and helpful information regarding hotel facilities, services, and local attractions within Mount Barker and the wider Adelaide Hills region.
- Escort guests to their rooms, ensuring they are comfortable and familiar with their surroundings and room features.
- Act as a helpful resource for guest requests, such as arranging transportation, providing directions, or directing them to various hotel amenities.
- Maintain the cleanliness, tidiness, and presentable appearance of the hotel lobby, entrance, and luggage storage areas.
- Collaborate effectively with the Front Desk, Concierge, and other hotel departments to ensure a cohesive and high-quality guest experience.
- Adhere to all hotel safety and security procedures.
Required Skills
- Exceptional customer service and outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
- The physical ability to lift and carry luggage weighing up to 25kg comfortably and safely.
- A friendly, approachable, and consistently professional appearance and attitude.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as a valued member of a team.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, to meet the needs of our guests.
- Strong punctuality and a reliable work ethic.
- A proactive approach to anticipating guest needs and offering assistance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in any customer-facing role (e.g., retail, customer service, hospitality).
- Basic knowledge of the Mount Barker and Adelaide Hills area attractions and amenities.
- A valid Australian Driver's License.
- A current First Aid certificate.
