Job Description
Are you passionate about language and eager to gain hands-on experience in English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching? Central Regional TAFE is offering an exciting ESL Teaching Internship opportunity at our Kalgoorlie campus. This entry-level placement is designed for individuals with little to no prior teaching experience who are looking to kick-start their career in language education. You will work alongside experienced educators, learn practical classroom management, curriculum delivery, and student support techniques, while contributing to a vibrant learning environment. This internship provides invaluable exposure to the demands and rewards of ESL teaching in a supportive, professional setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in planning and delivering engaging ESL lessons.
- Support students individually or in small groups to reinforce language concepts.
- Prepare classroom materials and resources under supervision.
- Observe and provide constructive feedback on student progress.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Administer and grade homework and tests as directed.
- Assist with cultural activities and excursions to enhance student immersion.
Required Skills
- Excellent command of the English language (native or near-native proficiency).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and working with diverse student populations.
- High level of patience, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, internet research).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Education, Linguistics, English, or a related field.
- Prior volunteer experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring.
- Familiarity with different teaching methodologies.
- Knowledge of a second language is a plus.
