Job Description
Join Cleanaway as a Wood Waste Processor and play a crucial role in our recycling operations in Palmerston, NT. You will be responsible for the efficient and safe processing of various types of wood waste, contributing to our commitment to a circular economy. This role involves operating machinery, sorting materials, and ensuring the smooth flow of our wood recycling facility. We offer regular shifts and a supportive team environment where safety and efficiency are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate fixed and mobile plant equipment, including loaders and excavators, for sorting and processing wood waste.
- Conduct visual inspections of incoming wood waste to identify and remove contaminants.
- Sort and segregate different types of wood materials for appropriate processing and recycling.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and basic troubleshooting on machinery.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Assist with other general site duties as required by supervisors.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding operational issues or safety concerns.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual tasks and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor, industrial environment.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of waste sorting and recycling principles.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality for regular shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or a similar industrial setting.
- Current and valid forklift license.
- Experience operating heavy machinery (e.g., loaders, excavators).
- Knowledge of different wood types and their recycling suitability.
