Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Workforce Planner with an Operations Focus to join our team in Broome, Western Australia. This role is crucial for optimising our operational efficiency by ensuring we have the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining workforce plans, schedules, and forecasts that align with operational demands and strategic objectives. This is a dynamic role requiring strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term workforce plans, forecasts, and schedules based on operational requirements, project timelines, and strategic initiatives.
- Analyse workforce data, including productivity, absenteeism, attrition, and capacity, to identify trends and inform planning decisions.
- Collaborate closely with operations managers, HR, and project teams to understand staffing needs, constraints, and operational impacts.
- Utilise workforce management systems and tools to generate reports, model scenarios, and track key performance indicators.
- Identify potential workforce gaps or surpluses and develop strategies for mitigation, including recruitment planning, training needs, and resource reallocation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industrial agreements, company policies, and safety regulations in all planning activities.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on workforce performance, plans, and forecasts for management review.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for workforce planning processes and systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in workforce planning, scheduling, or resource management within an operational environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data modelling).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in planning and data analysis.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience with workforce management software (e.g., SAP, Kronos, Workday).
- Prior experience in the mining, resources, heavy industrial, or logistics sectors.
- Understanding of relevant industrial relations legislation and agreements.
