Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Embalmer to join our dedicated team in Geelong. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert embalming services, ensuring the utmost care and respect for the deceased, and supporting bereaved families. This role requires a qualified professional with a strong understanding of mortuary science principles, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of our profession.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform embalming procedures with precision and adherence to established protocols.
- Prepare deceased individuals for viewings, funerals, and other services, including dressing and cosmetology.
- Maintain meticulous records of all embalming processes and related documentation.
- Ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, and proper maintenance of the mortuary facility and equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with funeral directors and other staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Manage inventory of embalming supplies and reagents.
- Provide compassionate and respectful care to the deceased, upholding their dignity at all times.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Associate's Degree in Mortuary Science or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated experience as a qualified embalmer.
- Proficiency in all embalming techniques and restorative art.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- High level of empathy, compassion, and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership with a professional embalming association (e.g., Australian Institute of Embalming).
- Experience with specialized embalming cases.
- Additional certifications in restorative art or mortuary cosmetology.
- First Aid certification.
