Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Street Sign Installer, playing a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing local government infrastructure within the Tuggeranong district. This position involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of various street signs, traffic management signs, and public information signage. You will work as part of a crew, ensuring all installations comply with local regulations and safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to public safety, and the ability to perform physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and erect new street signs, traffic signs, and other public signage according to work orders and specifications.
- Repair, replace, and maintain existing signage, including posts, brackets, and sign faces.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and light machinery (e.g., post-hole diggers, elevated work platforms) safely and efficiently.
- Conduct site inspections to assess sign conditions and identify maintenance needs.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local government standards, road safety regulations, and company safety procedures.
- Assist with traffic control setup around work sites as required.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment inspections.
- Adhere to all environmental policies and practices during operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum 6 months experience in a manual labour, construction, or outdoor maintenance role.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, diagrams, and maps.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tool operation.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25kg), dig, and work at heights.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Current Australian Driver's License (manual preferred).
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- White Card (Construction Induction Card).
- Traffic Controller certification (e.g., Stop/Slow bat).
- Experience operating an Elevated Work Platform (EWP) or other relevant plant equipment.
- Basic understanding of road signage regulations and standards.
- First Aid certificate.
