Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and creative Textile Design Intern with demonstrated Apparel Industry Experience to join our dynamic design team in Mackay. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail environment, contributing to the development of our exciting apparel collections. You will work closely with experienced designers, fabric technologists, and product developers, assisting in all stages from trend research to final product development, specifically focusing on textile patterns, prints, and fabrications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers with trend research and mood board creation for upcoming collections.
- Develop and present textile design concepts, patterns, and prints under guidance.
- Prepare technical specifications and artwork for fabric suppliers.
- Collaborate with the product development team to ensure design feasibility and quality.
- Support the team in managing textile libraries and sample organization.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute creative input.
- Help maintain up-to-date knowledge of textile innovations and sustainable practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Basic understanding of textile properties, fabric types, and print techniques.
- Demonstrated interest and foundational experience within the apparel industry (e.g., previous internships, academic projects, volunteer work).
- Strong eye for color, pattern, and design aesthetics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- A strong portfolio showcasing textile design work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- Familiarity with fashion trend forecasting and market analysis.
- Basic knowledge of garment construction.
