Job Description

Are you passionate about horses and looking for a fulfilling role in a picturesque regional setting? Tasmanian Equine Excellence is seeking dedicated Stable Hands to join our team in Burnie. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals eager to work with horses, with accommodation potentially available for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily feeding and watering of horses according to strict schedules and dietary plans.
  • Clean and maintain stables, yards, and surrounding areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
  • Groom horses thoroughly, including brushing, bathing, and mane/tail care.
  • Assist with horse handling, including leading, saddling, bridling, and preparing horses for exercise or events.
  • Monitor the health and well-being of all horses, reporting any unusual behaviour, injuries, or illnesses to management promptly.
  • Ensure all tack and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and stored correctly.
  • Assist with general farm duties as required, contributing to the smooth operation of the facility.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine love for animals, particularly horses, and a desire to provide excellent care.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to varying tasks.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with horses or farm animals (even personal or volunteer experience is a plus).
  • Basic understanding of horse behaviour and handling techniques.
  • A current Australian driver's license.
