Job Description
We are seeking reliable and enthusiastic Supermarket Assistants to join our Penrith team for a casual night roster. This role is crucial in ensuring our store is well-stocked, clean, and organised for the next day’s trading. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks primarily focused on replenishing shelves and maintaining store standards during overnight hours. Comprehensive training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to start or advance their career in retail, even without prior experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently restock shelves with products including groceries, fresh produce, and general merchandise during night shifts.
- Ensure all products are accurately priced and rotated according to stock management guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, including aisles, storage areas, and backroom facilities.
- Assist with the receiving and processing of new product deliveries.
- Operate manual handling equipment safely and efficiently, such as pallet jacks (training provided).
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and procedures.
- Support store presentation standards and merchandising efforts to enhance the shopping experience.
- Occasionally assist early morning customers with inquiries or direct them to relevant departments.
Required Skills
- Reliability and punctuality are essential, particularly for night shifts.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a small night team.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift, push, and pull heavy items regularly (up to 15kg).
- Basic communication skills to interact with team members and occasionally early morning customers.
- A strong work ethic and keen attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work a casual night roster, which may include weekends and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail, warehouse, or a similar physically demanding environment is advantageous.
- An understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) practices.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transport to and from night shifts.
- Basic understanding of supermarket operations and product merchandising.
