Job Description
Are you a night owl with a passion for animals? PetSmart is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pet Boarding Night Attendant to join our team in San Jose, CA. This crucial full-time position ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of our boarding pets during the quiet overnight hours. If you’re reliable, observant, and eager to contribute to a positive environment for pets, even without prior professional experience, we encourage you to apply! As a Pet Boarding Night Attendant, you will be responsible for overseeing our pet guests throughout the night. Your primary focus will be on monitoring their welfare, ensuring their environment remains clean and comfortable, and responding to any immediate needs. This is an on-site role where you’ll enjoy a calm and independent working atmosphere, knowing you’re providing essential care when it matters most.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular quiet rounds through boarding areas to monitor the health and behavior of all pet guests.
- Perform light cleaning and sanitation tasks of kennels, common areas, and facilities during the night.
- Ensure all pets have fresh water and respond to any feeding needs as per instructions.
- Document observations regarding pet health, behavior, and any concerns.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff (after proper training).
- Address any immediate pet emergencies or facility issues, escalating as needed.
- Prepare boarding areas for the morning shift.
- Maintain a calm, quiet, and secure environment for all animals.
Required Skills
- A genuine love and respect for animals of all kinds.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Comfortable performing light physical tasks, including walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to adhere to all safety and sanitation protocols.
- Willingness to learn and undergo comprehensive training provided by PetSmart.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience caring for pets, whether professional or personal.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior or pet first aid is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
