Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Water Infrastructure Tech to join our operations team in Glenorchy. In this role, you will be crucial in maintaining, repairing, and optimizing our essential water and wastewater infrastructure across the region. This involves hands-on work in the field, utilizing various tools and equipment to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of our systems. You will work within a supportive team environment, contributing directly to the delivery of critical services for the Tasmanian community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of water mains, sewerage pipes, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of plant and equipment, including excavators, trenching machines, and specialized diagnostic tools.
  • Respond promptly to emergency call-outs for burst pipes, blockages, and other infrastructure failures.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to minimize system downtime and extend asset life.
  • Assist in the installation of new water and wastewater infrastructure components.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and materials consumed.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations or a related trade qualification (e.g., Civil Construction, Plumbing)
  • Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of water or wastewater infrastructure
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Valid Australian Driver's License (MR class desirable)
  • White Card (Construction Induction)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Commitment to workplace health and safety

Preferred Qualifications

  • Confined Space Entry certification
  • First Aid certification
  • Experience with SCADA systems or similar operational control technologies
  • Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting
