Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Hydrogeologist with a strong focus on water management to join our dynamic team in Griffith, NSW. This role will be integral to delivering critical water resource projects across the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and surrounding regions. You will contribute to a diverse range of projects including groundwater assessment, borefield design, water quality investigations, and sustainable water management strategies. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to provide technical advice, conduct fieldwork, analyse data, and prepare comprehensive reports for clients in various sectors including agriculture, mining, and government.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrogeological investigations, including geological mapping, drilling supervision, and aquifer testing.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret hydrogeological and hydrochemical data.
- Develop conceptual and numerical groundwater models for various applications (e.g., water resource assessment, dewatering, impact assessment).
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Manage project tasks, budgets, and timelines under the guidance of senior staff.
- Implement and maintain WSP's safety and quality standards in all project work.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in hydrogeological consulting or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in fieldwork, including bore logging, pump testing, and groundwater sampling.
- Proficiency in hydrogeological data analysis and interpretation.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial data management and analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Hydrogeology or a related discipline.
- Experience with groundwater modelling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW).
- Knowledge of Australian water resource management legislation and policies, particularly in NSW.
- Professional registration (e.g., CEnvP, RPEQ).
- Local knowledge of the Murrumbidgee region's hydrogeological setting and water management challenges.
