Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Fair Work Support Officer to join our Human Resources team in Ballarat. This role is crucial in ensuring our industrial relations practices align with the Fair Work Act and other relevant workplace legislation. You will provide essential support to our HR and management teams, assisting with employee queries, policy interpretation, and compliance efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a foundational understanding of Australian workplace law to grow their career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and practical support on industrial relations matters, including award and agreement interpretation.
  • Assist in responding to employee queries related to workplace rights, obligations, and internal policies.
  • Help maintain accurate and up-to-date records of industrial instruments, policies, and employee relations cases.
  • Conduct research on fair work legislation, industrial precedents, and best practices.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documentation related to industrial relations.
  • Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with fair work standards.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and legal counsel on employee relations issues as required.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009 and Australian workplace relations system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Law, Business, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in an HR support, administrative, or compliance role, particularly within industrial relations.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS).
  • Knowledge of enterprise agreements and modern awards relevant to the financial services sector.
