Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Agronomist / Crop Scientist to join our dynamic team in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert agronomic advice to farmers on crop health, nutrition, pest and disease management, and yield improvement.
- Design, implement, and monitor field trials for new crop varieties, fertilizers, and crop protection products.
- Analyze soil, water, and plant tissue samples to provide data-driven recommendations.
- Develop and deliver tailored crop management plans in line with environmental regulations and sustainable practices.
- Keep abreast of the latest agricultural research, technology, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with sales teams to support product development and client engagement.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on trial results and recommendations.
- Educate and train farmers and internal staff on best agronomic practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in agronomy, crop science, or agricultural research.
- Strong understanding of crop physiology, soil science, pest and disease management, and nutrient management.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with experience using agricultural software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with farmers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region for field visits.
- Demonstrable experience with field trial design and execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant agricultural science discipline.
- BASIS (British Agrochemical Standards Inspection Scheme) qualification.
- FACTS (Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme) qualification.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies (e.g., GPS mapping, remote sensing).
- Familiarity with UK agricultural regulations and environmental stewardship schemes.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in European languages.
