Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Art Law & Provenance Research Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience at the intersection of art history, legal studies, and investigative research. The intern will assist our specialists in conducting thorough provenance research, analyzing art market regulations, and contributing to case studies involving art law. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about the art world and interested in developing expertise in its legal and historical dimensions. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting in-depth provenance research on artworks, utilizing archival records, databases, and historical documents.
- Support the legal team in researching art market regulations, intellectual property rights, and cultural heritage laws.
- Organize and maintain research files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of information.
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and summaries of research findings.
- Collaborate with gallery staff on various projects related to art authentication and documentation.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and discussions on ongoing cases and research initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in art history, art law, or cultural heritage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Art History, Law, Library Science, Archival Studies, or a related field.
- Familiarity with art databases or archival research methods.
- Knowledge of a second language (e.g., French, German, Italian, Spanish) is a plus.
- Previous experience with academic research or legal writing.
