Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Auction House Porter to join our dedicated team in Aberdeen. This pivotal role involves the careful handling, movement, and preparation of a diverse range of items for auction. You will be instrumental in the smooth operation of our saleroom, ensuring items are managed with the utmost care and professionalism from arrival to dispatch. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move, load, and unload a wide variety of items, including fragile antiques, furniture, and artworks.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of auction viewings and salerooms.
- Unpack, catalogue, and accurately store incoming consignments.
- Prepare items for photography, viewing, and eventual dispatch.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the saleroom and storage areas.
- Assist clients with collections and deliveries, providing excellent customer service.
- Work collaboratively with specialists and administrative staff to ensure smooth auction processes.
- Operate basic equipment such as pallet trucks and trolleys safely.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a physically demanding role, ideally within a warehouse, logistics, or similar environment.
- Ability to lift and move heavy and/or fragile objects safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping purposes.
- Full clean UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within an auction house, gallery, or museum setting.
- Knowledge of art, antiques, or valuable items handling best practices.
- Forklift operation certification (though not essential, training may be provided).
