Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Baking Tutor to join our culinary arts department in Coventry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of baking techniques, patisserie, and bread making, with a genuine desire to share their expertise with students of all levels. This role involves planning and delivering engaging practical and theoretical lessons, assessing student progress, and maintaining a high standard of education aligned with industry best practices. You will inspire students to achieve their full potential in a dynamic and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging practical and theoretical baking lessons across various levels and courses.
  • Prepare course materials, lesson plans, and assessment tools.
  • Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and monitor progress.
  • Ensure a safe and hygienic working environment in the baking kitchens.
  • Stay updated with current industry trends and incorporate new techniques into the curriculum.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, fostering a positive learning experience.
  • Participate in curriculum development and quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and achievement.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in a wide range of baking disciplines (e.g., bread, patisserie, cakes).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to teach and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional baking experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd).
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Portfolio demonstrating high-level baking skills.
