Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic individual with a burning passion for craft beer and a desire to learn the art and science of brewing from the ground up? Riverbend Craft Brewery is excited to offer a unique Brewmaster Intern – Craft Brewery Mentorship program. This is an unparalleled opportunity for an aspiring brewer with little to no prior experience to immerse themselves in all facets of a working craft brewery. Under the direct guidance of our experienced Brewmaster, you will gain hands-on training, invaluable industry insights, and a comprehensive understanding of the brewing process, from raw ingredients to the final pour. This mentorship is designed to kickstart your career in the exciting world of craft brewing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Brewmaster and brewing team with daily brewing operations, including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, and fermentation.
  • Participate in the cleaning and sanitization of brewing equipment, tanks, and the overall brewery environment.
  • Learn and assist with quality control procedures, including taking samples, monitoring fermentation, and basic lab work.
  • Support packaging operations, including kegging, bottling, or canning.
  • Assist with inventory management of raw materials and finished products.
  • Gain exposure to recipe development and ingredient sourcing.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace at all times.
  • Attend regular mentorship sessions with the Brewmaster to discuss brewing theory, techniques, and career development.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 25kg (e.g., sacks of grain).
  • Reliable transportation to our brewery in Parramatta.
  • A genuine passion for craft beer and the brewing industry.
  • Commitment to safety and hygiene protocols.
  • No prior brewing experience is required; full training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed studies in brewing science, food science, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including some weekends or evenings as needed.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (or willingness to obtain one) if assisting with taproom duties.
