Job Description
As a Bricklayers Mate, you will play a crucial supporting role to our experienced bricklayers, ensuring they have the materials and assistance needed to perform their tasks efficiently and safely on our construction sites in Wolverhampton. This is a hands-on, physically active role perfect for someone who is reliable, keen to learn, and has a strong work ethic. No prior experience in construction is required as full training and mentorship will be provided on-site, offering you a fantastic entry point into the building trade and opportunities for career progression within Lovell Partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting skilled bricklayers with their daily tasks, including brick and block laying.
- Mixing mortar to the correct consistency using various tools and machinery.
- Moving bricks, blocks, and other building materials safely and efficiently around the site.
- Ensuring the work area is clean, tidy, and organised at all times.
- Loading and unloading deliveries of materials and equipment.
- Adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations and site-specific rules.
- Maintaining tools and equipment in good working order.
- Learning and developing new skills related to bricklaying and general construction practices.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and carry heavy materials safely.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a site team.
- Basic understanding of site safety (full training will be provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- A valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card is highly desirable, but not essential as we can assist you in obtaining this.
- Previous experience in a manual labour role, even outside of construction, would be beneficial.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for understanding instructions and measurements.
