Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Broadcast Engineer to join our technical team in Bradford. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and development of our broadcast systems and infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the technical integrity of our transmissions, contributing to the delivery of high-quality content to our audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on broadcast equipment including cameras, vision mixers, audio consoles, routing systems, and transmission equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to broadcast signal paths, IP networks, and IT systems within a live broadcast environment.
  • Install, configure, and commission new broadcast hardware and software, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Monitor broadcast signals and systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams, operators, and other staff members.
  • Document system configurations, maintenance procedures, and incident reports accurately.
  • Participate in project work for system upgrades, expansions, and new facility builds.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in broadcast engineering or a related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of audio and video signal processing, standards (SDI, IP, NDI), and distribution techniques.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting broadcast-specific hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals as applied to broadcast workflows.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced live broadcast environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with specific broadcast vendor equipment (e.g., Grass Valley, Sony, Blackmagic Design, EVS).
  • Familiarity with broadcast automation systems and media asset management platforms.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and virtualisation technologies relevant to broadcast.
  • Certification in relevant broadcast or IT technologies.
