Job Description

Are you a student or recent graduate passionate about urban development and regulatory compliance? Lendlease is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a Building Surveyor Intern with a keen interest in legislative compliance. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals looking to gain practical experience in the building and construction industry, focusing on ensuring projects adhere to Australian building codes and regulations. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to real-world projects and developing a foundational understanding of building surveying practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior Building Surveyors in reviewing building plans and specifications for compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Conduct site inspections under supervision to observe construction progress and identify potential compliance issues.
  • Support in the preparation of compliance reports and documentation.
  • Research and interpret local council planning schemes and building regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on project challenges and solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to surveying activities.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of the Australian building regulatory framework (e.g., NCC, Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior exposure to CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Understanding of sustainability principles in building design and construction.
  • Active involvement in student associations or relevant industry groups.
