Job Description
Join Greyhound Lines, Inc. as a Bus Cargo Loader in Roswell, GA, and become an essential part of our team dedicated to moving people and their belongings across the country. In this physically active role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe loading, unloading, and stowing of passenger bags and cargo onto our buses. This is a shift-based position, requiring flexibility to work various hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are crucial for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload passenger luggage and cargo from buses.
- Accurately sort and stow bags in designated cargo compartments, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure placement.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company guidelines for handling and lifting.
- Verify baggage tags against passenger manifests to ensure correct loading and unloading.
- Operate basic material handling equipment (e.g., dollies, hand trucks) as needed.
- Communicate effectively with bus operators and other team members regarding cargo status.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within the bus depot or station.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Physical stamina and endurance for standing, bending, lifting, and pushing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or transportation environment.
- Familiarity with bus or airline baggage handling procedures.
