Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Carpet Roll Mover to join our warehouse team in Sparrows Point, MD. This is a crucial heavy-lifting role responsible for the safe and efficient movement of large and heavy carpet rolls within our distribution center. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to perform demanding physical tasks consistently. Full training will be provided on specific equipment and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually lift, push, pull, and maneuver heavy carpet rolls (up to 100+ lbs) onto and off trucks, racks, and storage areas.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to transport carpet rolls within the warehouse.
- Load and unload delivery trucks and trailers efficiently and safely.
- Organize and maintain inventory of carpet rolls in designated storage locations.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and equipment operation.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing carpet rolls for damage and report any discrepancies.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed, including cleaning and organization.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth warehouse operations and meet daily production goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects repeatedly throughout a shift (100+ lbs with assistance or appropriate equipment).
- Strong physical stamina and endurance.
- Commitment to workplace safety and following procedures.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Basic comprehension of verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse or physically demanding role.
- Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment (certification a plus).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
