Job Description

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking an enthusiastic City Arborist Assistant / Tree Surgeon Trainee to join our vital team in Barrow-in-Furness. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified arborists and tree surgeons with various tree work operations.
  • Learn and apply safe working practices, including proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Help with tree planting, pruning, felling, and stump grinding under supervision.
  • Participate in emergency tree work and storm damage response.
  • Support ground operations, including clearing debris, chipping brush, and site clean-up.
  • Undertake basic equipment checks and maintenance.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and environmental policies.
  • Contribute to the overall upkeep and improvement of green spaces within Barrow-in-Furness.
