Job Description
Join Go COMO as a City Bus Driver (Trainee) and embark on a rewarding career providing vital transportation services to the Columbia community. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with no prior bus driving experience, as we provide comprehensive, paid training to help you obtain your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsements. You’ll learn everything from vehicle operation and safety protocols to route navigation and customer service, all while contributing to the public good. Key Responsibilities
- Successfully complete all required training programs to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsements.
- Operate transit buses safely and efficiently along designated routes and schedules once licensed.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers, including safe boarding and alighting procedures.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and federal/state regulations.
- Provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service to all passengers.
- Collect fares, issue transfers, and provide accurate information regarding routes and schedules.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any mechanical issues.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
- Respond to passenger inquiries and provide assistance as needed, including those with disabilities.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record (minimal points, no DUIs).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and drug screening.
- Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures.
- Availability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Familiarity with the Columbia, MO area and city streets.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Current CDL Learner's Permit with Passenger Endorsement.
