Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Coffee Roastery Production Assistant to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to learn the intricacies of coffee production from bean to bag. As a Production Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our roastery, assisting with everything from green bean intake to packaging and inventory management. This role requires an early riser with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for quality. No prior experience in coffee roasting is necessary; we provide comprehensive training for motivated individuals ready to dive into the world of specialty coffee.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist roasters with daily production tasks, including weighing, loading, and unloading green coffee beans.
- Operate and monitor packaging equipment, ensuring accurate weights and proper sealing.
- Perform quality control checks on roasted coffee and packaged products.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the roastery, including equipment and workstations.
- Manage inventory of green coffee, roasted coffee, and packaging materials.
- Prepare orders for shipment, ensuring correct product and packaging.
- Follow all safety protocols and food handling procedures.
- Learn and understand various coffee profiles and roasting techniques.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable with early morning starts and a consistent work schedule.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Reliable transportation to our Salinas facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or food production environment.
- Experience with basic machinery operation.
- A genuine interest in coffee and the coffee industry.
- Food handler's permit or willingness to obtain one.
