Job Description
Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking to make a meaningful difference in your local community? Burnie City Council’s Community Services is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Community Transport Driver to provide essential transport services to seniors within Burnie and surrounding areas. This role is crucial in helping elderly residents maintain their independence, access appointments, social activities, and community programs. If you have a clean driving record, a friendly demeanor, and a desire to help others, we encourage you to apply. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport senior clients to various appointments, shopping trips, social outings, and community events.
- Assist clients with boarding and alighting the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Maintain a friendly, empathetic, and respectful rapport with all passengers.
- Adhere to scheduled routes and timings, while remaining flexible for minor adjustments.
- Complete necessary vehicle checks and basic maintenance (e.g., fuel levels, cleanliness).
- Maintain accurate passenger records and trip logs as required.
- Report any vehicle issues, incidents, or client concerns promptly to the supervisor.
- Ensure all transport services comply with relevant safety regulations and Council policies.
Required Skills
- Current and valid Australian Driver's License (Class C or higher)
- Clean driving record and commitment to safe driving practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to assist clients with varying mobility levels.
- Basic knowledge of Burnie and surrounding areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar community transport or care role.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working with seniors or vulnerable populations.
- Completion of a defensive driving course.
