Job Description

P&O Cruises is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Cruise Ship Director for a pivotal land-based role in Falmouth. This position is crucial for coordinating and overseeing various aspects of our cruise operations, ensuring our high standards of service, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency are maintained across our fleet. While not at sea, you will be instrumental in supporting our shipboard teams, managing logistics, and contributing to the strategic development of our guest services. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage land-based operational support for our cruise fleet, focusing on guest services, entertainment, and operational readiness.
  • Act as a primary liaison between shipboard teams and shore-side departments, ensuring seamless communication and problem resolution.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall guest experience, drawing insights from feedback and industry best practices.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively for assigned operational areas, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant international and local maritime regulations, company policies, and health and safety standards.
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of operational staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, port authorities, and local businesses to ensure smooth port calls and guest excursions.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning for guest services and operational enhancements.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership and management experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably within hospitality, travel, or cruise industries.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
  • Proficiency in operational planning, budget management, and resource allocation.
  • Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to work effectively with international teams.
  • Eligibility for sponsorship and willingness to relocate to Falmouth, UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a senior operational role within the cruise industry or a large-scale hospitality business.
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations and international travel standards.
