Job Description

CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, is seeking a dedicated and organised Research Support professional to join our team in Rockhampton, QLD. This full-time, on-site role is essential in providing critical administrative and logistical assistance to our scientific researchers, enabling them to focus on ground-breaking work that addresses national challenges. As a Research Support team member, you will play a vital role in the smooth operation of our research projects. Your daily activities will involve ensuring our researchers have the necessary resources, managing project documentation, and facilitating communication within the team and with external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to research scientists and project teams, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and preparing presentations.
  • Assist with data entry, maintenance of research databases, and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information.
  • Coordinate the procurement of research equipment, supplies, and services, liaising with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Manage and organise project documentation, reports, and publications, ensuring compliance with CSIRO's record-keeping standards.
  • Facilitate internal and external communications, acting as a point of contact for enquiries related to research projects.
  • Support the organisation of workshops, seminars, and field activities, including logistical arrangements and participant coordination.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and compliant research environment by assisting with safety documentation and facility management tasks.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience (minimum 2 years) in an administrative or support role, preferably within a research, scientific, or government setting.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant office software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach.
  • A commitment to upholding confidentiality and maintaining high professional standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Certificate IV or Diploma in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with financial systems or procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with scientific terminology or research methodologies.
